Am I losing my Driver's License?

Some traffic offenses can result in the suspension or even the permanent revocation of your driver's license. By far the offense that most commonly leads to this situation is operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This charge comes with the possibility of both criminal consequences such as a fine or jail time, as well as administrative penalties such as restrictions on one's driving privileges.

In addition to defending against criminal charges, we have significant experience in administrative matters and we can help you take action to protect your driver's license.

Am I going to jail?

That depends on the specific criminal charges you are facing, as well as the amount of evidence supporting the charges. Many misdemeanor convictions are punishable by a fine, although jail time is a possibility. A felony in Connecticut is punishable by one year or prison or more.

In all cases, we will attempt to have the charges against you dropped or reduced. When that is not possible, we will seek a reduced sentence. Our underlying goal is to minimize the impact of criminal charges on your life, even when a conviction cannot be avoided.

Is it a Felony or a Misdeneanor?

If you are not sure what type of criminal charge you are facing, the best way to clear this up is to speak with an attorney. Some crimes can be either a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the details of the alleged incident or whether the defendant has previously been convicted for the same offense.

Is There A Program To Help Me Avoid Jail Time For A First Offense?

There are a number of programs in Connecticut designed to rehabilitate first-time offenders and help them avoid becoming repeat offenders. Some of these programs include the Alcohol Education Program, the Family Violence Education Program, the Youthful Offender Program and the Accelerated Rehabilitation Program.
For more information on how these and other programs could affect your case, we suggest you schedule a consultation with us.
